2008 Vintage
The 2008 vintage will be known for its outstanding fruit quality and high yields. Following another dry growing season, yet thankfully one without spring frosts, the vintage arrived early again this year. We found despite the warm temperatures that the fruit ripened at a steady pace and developed excellent flavours early on in the vineyard. As the warm temperatures lasted through to the end of harvest, we saw each variety being picked according to its optimum level of ripeness, that is they were picked based on flavour and were typically picked over a number of days to maximise blending options.
As such, some wines will show higher alcohol levels than usual as we decided to wait for flavour development rather than sugar ripeness. Despite this, we were able to ferment all of our wines without acid adjustment and their natural acidity remains and highlights our classic cool climate regional characteristics.
