The Alcorso Legacy

Claudio Alcorso, who emigrated from Italy in 1937, made a significant contribution to the cultural, commercial and environmental life of his adopted country.

His heritage of innovation in industrial design, enterprise development and his role in the establishment of the Tasmanian wine industry cannot be underestimated. Alcorso's home was often a venue for inspired musical performance and passionate philosophical discussion. He was an enthusiastic sponsor and supporter of the arts and a strong believer in social justice and the environment. In Tasmania he is best known for founding the Moorilla vineyard on its current site.
