Conor van der Reest is the winemaker at Moorilla. Having started his career in his home region, Ontario's Niagara Peninsula, he has worked around the wine world (Canada, France, Turkey and Australia) before settling in Tasmania.
Having recently joined Moorilla in August 2007, Conor brings a range of winemaking skills and styles to the winery. As he started his career in cool growing regions, he specialises in the varieties most suited to the Tasmanian climate. He favours structural wines offering New World fruit and Old World complexity.
Firmly believing great wines are made in the vineyard, he emphasizes quality grape growing and fruit handling before selecting individual wine styles to compliment the fruit each vintage. Winemaker Conor van der Reest concentrates on careful handling of pristine cool climate fruit with minimal intervention.
