Conor van der Reest is Moorilla's winemaker.

Conor started his career in his home region on Ontario's Niagara Peninsula. He has worked around the wine world in Canada, France, Turkey and Australia, before following his passion to work with Tasmania's renowned cool climate wines.

Conor arrived at Moorilla in the autumn of 2007 and because his early training and experience were in cool climate regions he brought with him a deep understanding of the varieties most suited to the Tasmanian climate. He favours structural wines offering new world fruit and old world complexity.

Great wines are made in the vineyard, says Conor. As such, Moorilla has begun work to shift its viticultural practices from a conventional approach to one that combines organic and bio-dynamic techniques so we can sustainably and responsibly grow our fruit. Attention to detail is crucial at each step, but it starts in the vineyard. Wine styles may change yearly as they are selected to best compliment both the fruit from which they are made and the vintage that they represent.
