Muse Pinot Noir 2008

Drinking Guide

Drink 2011-2023

Aromas of mushrooms, tea, perfume, incense, sandalwood, and violets are reflected on the palate and promise truffles with age. The palate is complete, tart cranberries and sour cherries accompany minerals and the peacocks tail on the finish; abundant fine natural acidity and a touch of stalk tannin fills the palate and will reward the patience of those willing or able to wait for this wine to develop to its full potential.

Vintage Description
Technical Details

A heavier and more robust style showing the principles of the Muse series; that is it was blended to not be obviously fruit or oaky, but instead to show a balance between fruit derived and oak derived aromas and flavours. The result is a wine displaying fresh berries and spice with hints of tobacco and leather. Powerful, balanced and complex, this wine will benefit from bottle maturation. This wine contrasts to the Praxis in that there is a higher percentage of whole bunch ferments and carbonic maceration, the impact on tannin and texture is important in bottle maturability and food matching. The fruit was left on the vine until flavour profiles showed an increase in fruit/berry characters before it was hand-picked. Both vineyards have shown to be extremely low-yielding in the past; however, yields were higher then normal due to the season and quality was excellent. Effort was also made in picking within blocks to obtain separate fruit batches for fermentation.
