Muse Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc 2009

Drinking Guide

Drink 2012–2033

In 2009 power and ripeness accompanied outstanding acidity. Ripe fruit came to the fore with floral, spice, and leafy characters offering complexity. A rich and vibrant nose with fresh berry, leather, spice, Italian herbs, hints of paprika and roasted red capsicum combine seamlessly. Soft and velvety Merlot, earthy and powerful Cabernet Sauvignon and floral and round Cabernet franc combine to create a full-bodied wine that is approachable now but will improve in time. Smooth and fine-grained tannin provide for a long and balanced finish. The wine will benefit from decanting over the course of its long life. Great for enjoying immediately or cellaring, it matches well with food.

Technical Details

Despite many differing opinions, I believe Tasmania has the capacity to make some excellent Bordeaux styled blends. This relies on a combination of good site selection, viticultural practices and attention in the winery. This wine is a fine example of such a cool climate blend. Soft and velvety Merlot, earthy and powerful Cabernet Sauvignon and floral and round Cabernet franc combine to create a full-bodied wine that is approachable now but will improve in time. Rich and complex it will benefit from decanting over the course of its long life.
