Muse Syrah 2013

Drinking Guide

Drink 2016-2031.

The warm and dry 2013 vintage was favourable to our Syrah and has provided a wine of richness and finesse. Dark berries, plums, nectarines, brilliant peppery spice and French oak dominate the bouquet. The palate takes a step up in weight from the previous vintage. Its tannins are ripe, rich flavours persist from fruit and oak and the acid gently drifts into the equation. This wine will cellar well.

Vintage Description
Technical Details

Compared to earlier vintages, this wine is more similar to the 2010 in that it’s again suppler with more upfront fruit and improved oak integration. The continued inclusion of the top block provides acid lift. As with all our releases the 2013 shows the finesse and richness possible in cool climate Shiraz. With a huge reservoir of spice, fruit and floral elements that will continue to develop with maturation in bottle, we have continued to call it by its traditional French name, Syrah. The fruit was sourced from the Moorilla owned and operated St. Matthias vineyard, north-east facing on the West Bank of the Tamar River. The fruit was left on the vine until flavour profiles showed an increase in fruit/berry characters before it was hand-picked.
