Pinot noir 2019

Muse

Pinot noir 2019

A brighter, punchy take on our Pinot noir (which usually skews robust and rich), there’s lots of fleshy red fruit and florals to explore on the lush, intense nose, plus a hint of smoked meat. The big, rounded palate continues the trend, with cherries and light spice, fortified by fine smooth tannins and that returning suggestion of smoke.

Kept on gross lees in French oak for 18 months.

Complexity, power and balance. It will benefit from bottle maturation.

Winemaker Notes

Due to the complexity of the Moorilla vineyard and its location, we tend to have fruit that lends itself to a heavier and more robust style of Pinot noir. My aim is to work with this but to also try to bring levity to the finished wine. By picking over many different days and working with the variability in the vineyard we can make many separate batches. Blending them allows us to work with that natural complexity to show balance between fruit and oak derived aromas and flavours. By using stems in some fermentations we can get a great depth of tannin as well.
