Muse Pinot Noir 2010

Drinking Guide

Drink 2013-2025

The 2010 vintage offers the sublime beauty that makes Pinot noir so very special; perfume, shape and finesse. Aromas of alpine berries, spiced cherries, perfumed violets, tea, incense, sandalwood, and mushrooms are reflected on the palate and promise truffles with age. The palate has classical elegance. A touch of stalk and barrique tannin fills the palate, tart cranberries accompany minerals and balanced, natural acidity The wine is very long and will reward the patience of those willing or able to wait for this wine to develop to its full potential.

Vintage Description
Technical Details

A heavier and more robust style showing the principles of the Muse series. It was blended to show a balance between fruit derived and oak derived aromas and flavours. The result is a wine displaying fresh berries and spice with hints of tobacco and leather. Powerful, balanced and complex, this wine will benefit from bottle maturation. This wine contrasts to the Praxis in that there is a higher percentage of whole bunch ferments and carbonic maceration, the impact on tannin and texture is important in bottle maturability and food matching all typical of our southern vineyard. The fruit was sourced from both Moorilla owned and operated vineyards; St Matthias vineyard on the West Bank of the Tamar River, our adjacent managed lease block and the Moorilla Estate vineyard on the West Bank of the Derwent River. The fruit was left on the vine until flavour profiles showed an increase in fruit/berry characters before it was hand-picked. Yields were higher than 2009 and up on average. Effort was made in picking within blocks to obtain separate fruit batches for fermentation.
